Why preserve history?
The history of a community contributes to its personality. Historic preservation adds to the quality of life making for a more livable community. Preserving the history of a place through its significant historic resources gives a community its unique character. Historic preservation provides a link to the roots of the community and its people.
Ways to preserve our history
DONATIONS – The Society not only accepts monetary contributions, but also donations of physical items. Materials collected by the Society include items such as photographs, books, maps, and business/personal documents, as well as artifacts ranging from Native American relics to vintage clothing and furniture.
MEMBERSHIP – Make Walsh County’s history part of your present, and experience all the Walsh County Historical Society has to offer.
VOLUNTEER: Volunteer for one of our reclamation programs.
