HOOPLE: This Great Northern RR town site was founded in 1890 in SW ¼ Sec. 5-158-54, Glenwood Twp., and named for Allan Hoople (1849-1923), who owned the town site and operated a drug store. The post office was established January 7, 1890, with Merrit B. Bronson as postmaster. The elevation is 903 feet, the Zip Code is 58243, and the village, which incorporated in 1898, reached a peak population of 447 in 1950. Lynn J.
